Bladderwrack is rich in iodine and is often used in traditional medicine to help with thyroid issues. It can be made into a tea by infusing one teaspoon of bladderwrack in hot water for 10 minutes before drinking.
Bladderwrack is a type of seaweed that is brown in colour and comes from the Pacific and Atlantic oceans and also occasionally the North Sea, Baltic Sea and Meditarranean Sea. It is rich in iodine, in fact it is one of the highest iodine containing sea vegetables, and is often used in traditional medicine for issues such as thyroid dysfunctions.

How to make bladderwrack tea

Infuse 1 teaspoon with hot water and allow it to steep for at least 10 minutes before drinking. You can grind the bladderwrack into a powder if you wish and add to hot water, if not then use a tea infuser such as this one or strain tea before drinking.

Please note: it is recommended that we only consume a maximum of 3 cups of bladderwrack tea a day and no more than 150mcg iodine should be consumed from all sources in one day.
